About Humanist Ceremonies
What is Humanism?
Humanism is a set of values that emphasizes rationality, responsibility and the common good. Humanism values inclusivity, respect, integrity and ethics. Humanism celebrates our ability to reason, question, and find the answers through art, science and critical thinking. We all have the capacity to make the world a better place, and it is our responsibility to do so.
Rituals are important to people, and I believe everyone should have the freedom to celebrate the most meaningful occasions of their lives the way they want to.
A Humanist officiant can offer an alternative to traditional religious ceremonies and also mark important circumstances for which ceremonies don't usually exist. Significant moments, such as the blending of a family, the change of identity from one gender to another, the amicable divorce, are all events that someone may want to observe in a public way. The Humanist officiant can afford visibility and meaning to these occasions.
